Those interested in natural history will find their Eldorado in Grünau, because here nature with its diverse forms determines life. Even Konrad Lorenz was attracted to this hidden gem in the eastern Salzkammergut. In friendship and solidarity with his greylag geese, he brought the intensive relationship to nature in Grünau to life. Thanks to the dedicated work at the Konrad Lorenz Research Center, greylag geese, common ravens, kingfishers and northern bald ibises have now established themselves as free-flying symbols of Grünau. The area was chosen twice as a film location for “Universe” nature film productions.
The Cumberland Wildlife Park Grünau with its 60 hectares offers an unforgettable insight into the world of native wild animals. The Kasberg family ski area inspires! With its 23 excellently groomed kilometers of pistes, which are snow-covered from the mountain to the valley with 120 snow cannons and snow lances, it offers the right thing for every ability level, from beginner pistes to black runs.
The extensive children’s ski arena with 3 people movers, mascot Bruno Kasbär and the ‘Children Gaudanium’ guarantee a lot of enthusiasm for the little visitors.
The freestyle park at the new Fun-Jet can be found at 1,600 meters above sea level. Snowboarders and skiers meet in the park, jumping over the two giant kickers, gliding over the rails, the wall and the box and trying out the smaller jumps. The park is groomed every day and is therefore not only the largest but also the best freestyle park in Upper Austria.
The Hochberghaus with its hearty “pan dishes”, the Sonnalm, the Kasbergalmhütte and the Sepp-Huber-Hütte are located directly on the piste and invite you to take a leisurely break. In addition to savory and sweet delicacies, you will also be served a lot of charm, cosiness and hospitality here!
